Green For All recently teamed up with the City of Portland on a cutting-edge green jobs program, funded through the Recovery Act. Clean Energy Works Portland's Home Energy Retrofit Program will create thousands of good clean-energy jobs for low-income workers, weatherize 100,000 homes, and launch the first model of paying for home weatherization through utility bills.
CAWS is proud to have partnered with the City to craft a Community Workforce Agreement that will ensure the jobs created are quality jobs and are broadly accessible to low-income communities and communities of color.
Please join the call on Thursday to learn more about this project, and how it can become a national model for Recovery Act implementation.

Verde has a new website. This new website was funded by a grant from the NW Health Foundation’s Kaiser Permanente Community fund, and designed with probono marketing consultation from the Frause Group’s Matt Smedley and with website design services provided by TACS NPower’s Ash Shepherd.
We’re very happy to share this with you, our friends and partners, a sign of Verde’s transition from an idea to startup to a recognized participant in (and bridge between) Portland’s environmental and community development stakeholders; from a nonprofit which operates a project to a nonprofit which operates programs.

The fight against federal project labor agreements has taken a new dimension with the entry of a new group into the local debate. The National Black Chamber of Commerce, which has no local chapter, has targeted Portland, where one such agreement is being considered. Project labor agreements set terms between owners and labor groups before construction begins. President Barack Obama signed an executive order in February encouraging their use on federal projects worth more than $25 million, reversing a Bush-administration order banning the agreements on federal projects.
