A strong economy demands a skilled and educated
workforce, a plentiful supply of available jobs that
provide a living wage, and a workforce representative
of its community.
For the first time, these are coming together in an organization
to help meet the long-term workforce needs of
the construction industry. Construction Apprenticeship
& Workforce Solutions, Inc., CAWS is a private
nonprofit working to build a regional pool of diverse
and skilled construction workers, draw more young
adults into the construction trades, and assist industry
partners in strengthening their internal efforts to diversify
and prepare a skilled workforce.
A membership organization created by the construction
industry and its peers, CAWS represents a unique blend
of businesses, trade unions, workforce organizations,
educators and community organizations. All of these
groups are coming together to address a common
purpose create a diverse and well-trained labor force
